Are you a registered counsellor?
Yes, I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC; License #: 18663). I have been in practice since 2020, and received my license in 2021.
Where do sessions occur?
I currently offer in-person appointments centrally in Victoria, BC. My office is located at 864 Queens Ave, 2nd Floor. I also offer virtual sessions.
What are your rates?
My rate is $170 (all inclusive) for individuals and $180 (all inclusive) for couples.
How do you take payments?
I accept payment through e-transfer, due before sessions.
How many sessions will it take?
My frequency recommendation is to see each other at least biweekly while we are actively working on issues. This frequency is helpful for developing a strong therapeutic relationship and enhances the overall effectiveness of the process. The length of each client’s course if highly individual, and depends on the number and severity of issues that they are looking to work through. It’s important to me that therapy is actually helpful for you, and I will not rope you into an unnecessarily long course of therapy.
What is the difference between Coaching and Counselling?
There are many overlapping similarities between coaching and counselling. Whereas the primary goal of counselling might be to treat and deal with issues that clients view as problematic (e.g. anxiety), coaching helps clients strive to meet specific goals or to explore their higher selves. Counselling is likely to focus on emotional work, and employ methods from psychotherapy (e.g. trauma-work).
Coaching is more likely to focus on planning, mindset, habits, and a vision for the future. Many coaching clients eventually benefit from work more characteristic of counselling, in order to address unhelpful patterns. Everyone’s path will be unique, and the approach we take will be flexible.
Are your services covered under my benefits plan?
Many employer benefits packages cover some proportion of services with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). It is up to you to contact your insurance provider to find out whether this is the case for you.
